Tanker crushes 6 in Anambra market

Six persons, mainly hawkers, were yesterday crushed when a tanker suspected to be carrying petroleum product rammed into the building materials market in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the propeller of the 40-foot tanker laden with petroleum product pulled out and the vehicle rammed into some commercial buses waiting for passengers along the ever-busy Onitsha/Enugu Expressway, crushing some vehicles and six hawkers.

According to sources, the tanker was coming from Enugu to discharge its content in Onitsha when its propeller pulled out on getting to the market.

The driver of the tanker was said to have fled the scene immediately the incident occurred.
