Election 2015: 2 killed as Boko Haram strikes Polling Units In Gombe

Two people have been killed after Boko Haram attacked polling stations in Gombe,northeast Nigeria on Saturday..Residents and an election official told AFP, the attacks happened in the villages of Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state, which has been repeatedly targeted by the Islamists.
An election official, who requested anonymity, said:

“We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?'”

The website of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been recovered after it was hacked into by a team of hackers which called itself TeaM Nigerian Cyber Army.

Al Jazeera demands release of staff detained in Nigeria

Nigeria's military continues to hold two Al Jazeera journalists who have been detained since Tuesday morning.

Ahmed Idris and producer Ali Mustafa were detained in their hotel room after returning from covering a story about the Nigerian troops fighting Boko Haram in Borno State.

The story, which was done in cooperation with the military, was part of the channel’s coverage on the Nigerian presidential election, which will take place on Saturday.

Police arrest Man and Baboon over N230k robbery(Photo)

An interesting drama played out in Lagos recently, after some criminals who were with two baboons waylaid a man as he was coming out from the bank at Ogba area of the state. The unsuspecting victim who withdrew the sum of N230,000 from the bank was shocked when he stepped out only to see some roughly dressed young men with two giant-sized baboons starring at him menacingly. Without blinking an eyelid, the man took to his heels, abandoning his bag of money.

Crime Guard gathered that the bandits used their baboons to scare the victim after driving close to the banking premises with an unregistered Nissan Primera. It was learnt that two of the suspects alighted from the vehicle with two baboons and ambushed the man as he was coming out of the banking hall after withdrawing the money from his account. The victim reportedly was frightened and dropped the nylon bag containing the cash on the ground and ran for dear life.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Nwakanma C. Chukwudi before Justice D.V Agishir of a Federal High Court sitting in Enugu on a 12-count charge of cyber crime, obtaining money by false pretence and impersonation.

The 30-year-old accused, who claimed to be a “British national,” named Barry Bernard, is being prosecuted for duping one Donnalynn, a Canadian, whom he met on a dating site.

Fayose suspends 2 over illegal deduction from teachers’ salaries

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has suspended two state officials over illegal deductions from the salaries  of teachers in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state.

The governor also announced that the two officials,(names withheld by us)  a former Education Secretary in Ido Osi local government and an accountant, had four weeks to prove their innocence before a committee set up to investigate the matter.

They were accused of illegally deducting money from the salaries of teachers under the guise of deducting money for the repayment of laptop computers given to teachers in public schools by the former administration of Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Irishman admits stabbing his wife 'up to 50 times' after argument

According to independent, An Irishman who was found unconscious beside the body of his wife in Switzerland has admitted to stabbing her to death.

Swiss authorities confirm that Harry Ringwood (48), originally from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, admitted to killing his wife, Galina Shevchenko (46), by stabbing her up to fifty times.
Galina Shevhcenko, originally from Kazakhstan, was discovered lifeless in the couple’s apartment in the scenic Lutry on Monday.

This cute baby was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on the 11th Nov. 2014 with an unusual birthmark '12' that looks more like a tattoo on his fore head. Beacause of the number 12, people believed that the little boy arrived earlier than he supposed to.

Commenting on the mark, his  great-grandmother, Catherine Jooste, 70, said: “My youngest daughter was the first one to see it and she said there is a 1 and a 2 on his forehead. We did not worry about it, his doctor said it will fade as he gets older.”
