The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Niger Governor Babangida Aliyu and his Jigawa counterpart Sule Lamido of getting stuck in the pre-election mode, urging them to wake up to the reality that electioneering campaign is over and it is time for nation
building.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party described the duo’s unprovoked vituperation (which they couched as a piece of advice) against the APC and the President-elect as uncouth, ill-intentioned and in bad faith.

A Magistrates’ Court sitting at ‘Yan-Azara, Tudun-Wada, Zaria, has convicted one Lukman Ibrahim, 27, of Turunku Road, Tudun-Wada, Zaria, to two years in prison with 12 strokes of the cane for theft.

In a summary trial, the presiding magistrate, Mohammed Abdurrahman, sentenced Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to the offence against him.

Abdurrahman said the convict has an option of N15,000 fine but must take 12 strokes of the cane without an option.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Ibrahim Mohammed, had told the court that Ibrahim trespassed into a lady’s room and stole her valuables.

When Zara Mohammed,27, a full-time house wife and a nursing mother, left her home at Dolphin Estate, dressed georgeously to attend her friend’s baby naming ceremony at Ijeh barracks, little did she know that she would be mistaken for a millionaire’s wife and kidnapped on her way back home by a woman who offered her a ride at the entrance to her Estate.

Crime Guard gathered that the victim, who relocated to Lagos after she got married to her husband in Maiduguri in 2010, had two children including a six-month-old baby before she was kidnapped.

Mary Iyayi, a 38 year old make-up artist, who lives at 49, Oke-Olu St., Iponri, a suburb of Lagos, has told a Lagos Island Customary Court that her husband raped her and she had to lose a two-month old pregnancy in the process. Hence she wants the dissolution of her two-year-old marriage,

She alleged thus:

“My pastor-husband held my hands to the wall, so I could not move. I told him that I was pregnant but he did not listen, until he forcefully made love to me. After it, I started bleeding and I lost the pregnancy. He told me later that he had just helped me to flush out the pregnancy.’’

Three young men suspected to have robbed traders in the popular Okuku Market in Yala Local Government Area in the northern part of Cross River State were on Thursday afternoon set ablaze by a mob amidst the wailing of women who witnessed the gory scene.

Former Governor of Lagos State and one of APC’s National leaders, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday at the public presentation of the book “Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years”, has attributed the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the last presidential election to a commonsense revolution anchored on a rebellion against the excesses of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He also further said it was fast-tracked by President Jonathan’s mishandling of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF crisis. While commenting on the book after Professor Wole Soyinka commended him and the River State governor for their efforts in ensuring change in the country, Tinubu said;

A former House of Representative member and Senator-elect, Dino Melaye, has accused President, Goodluck Jonathan, of running the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria. In an interview with Premium Times, Mr. Melaye, emphasised that the government of Mr. Jonathan massively promoted corruption.

Two days after an elderly man dialed 911 for food because he was hungry and couldn't move, his kitchen cabinets are overflowing with donations.

A 911 operator came to Clarence Blackmon's rescue this week after he called for help. The 81-year-old, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, had just returned home to an empty refrigerator after spending several months in the hospital, and he said he had no one else to turn to. Residents of Tudun Samanu area of Bauchi metropolis have been thrown into mourning as three children of the same father drowned in a well.

The children, whose father’s name is Alkasim Abdulahi, got drown inside a well in an uncompleted building in the area.

According to the Bauchi State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Muhammed, the incident happened at about 1.00 p.m. on Tuesday, adding that the remains of the children were deposited in the mortuary of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi.

A Jordanian woman has claimed that a doctor left his mobile phone in her abdomen after she underwent a Caesarean section.
Hanan Mahmoud Abdul Karim, 36, was admitted to a private hospital in Amman, Jordan, for the delivery of her baby son on April 24, 2015.

The President of the Students’ Union Government, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Mr. Noble Eyisi has alleged threat to his life

Eyisi had, on Tuesday, accused the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, of being corrupt.

He claimed that a team of security men had raided his house.

A 25-year-old plumber, Yahyah Ahmed, has died while digging a well for some residents of Onipanu, in the Somolu area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim was working on Tuesday, but was suddenly trapped. He was said to have collapsed.

Efforts to rescue Ahmed by the residents were abortive.

A source said the well was about 120 feet deep, adding that after some local rescue men tried to bring him out, but failed, emergency call was placed to officials of the Lagos State Fire Service. The firefighters brought him out dead.

The father of a 17-year-old girl, identified simply as Senami, is on the run after allegedly cutting his daughter’s leg with a hot knife.

It was learnt that the father, who was identified only as Azama, tortured the girl, who hawks Dokunu (local dish), for returning home late on Sunday, May 4.

She was said to have returned home earlier on the fateful day, but went back to collect payment from some customers who bought Dokunu on credit.
