I won’t die because Jonathan lost election – Edwin Clark

Former Federal Commissioner for Information and Ijaw National leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has debunked rumours that he fainted after President Jonathan lost the March 28 election to Buhari. Clark invited journalists that he was leaving for London on Friday night so as to dispel any rumour that will trail his absence. He said;

For 30-year-old Nweke Chinonso, the tragic events of Sunday, April 19, 2015, could as well be the handiwork of a spiritual influence or force beyond his control.

“I do not know the spirit that got inside me that day,” he began.

Chinonso, an Imo State indigene, was calm as he explained that he should be seen as the victim of a supernatural force that took control of him and made him to kill his neighbour, Kunle Abiola.

Chinonso, who is being held at the Department of Criminal Investigations, Yaba, Lagos, told our correspondent that he only sat in the front of his house to relax that Sunday morning when the deceased and another neighbour came to trouble him.

Bruce Jenner who has openly declared his intentions to transition into a woman after his ABC interview has been trending on social media.

The 65-year-old Olympian said he knows long ago that he is a woman but had to halt his transition after he fell in love with Chris Jenner.

There has been different feelings, both positives and negatives from people. Some thinks he did the right thing while some thinks other wise....

Funmilayo Adeyemi, the arrested notorious nanny who confessed to be the mastermind of the kidnap of the Orekoya and the Esharegaran kids in Lagos confessed that her husband, Rasheed Kareem, brother-in-law, Hakeem Kareem and their mother who are still at large are members of the kidnap syndicate, which she called ‘family business.’

A 32-year-old cleric, Pastor Abel Benard Aniude of Trimphant Kings Assembly, Enugu, has been nabbed by police detectives in Enugu for allegedly duping a 25-year-old lady, Ojiaku Chiamaka of N4 million.The pastor was said to have wooed Chiamaka on facebook in December 2013 and promised her marriage. Using preparations for the marriage as a bait, the clergy allegedly swindled the lady over N4 million.

He was arrested by police detectives at his No 42 Odudukoko street, Gariki Awkunanaw, Enugu State on April 13 following complaints filed by the victim.

The Nigerian Union in South Africa said on Saturday that Nigerians lost more than 4.6 million Rand (N84m) to xenophobic attacks .

The President of Nigerian Union in South Africa, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene, told the News Agency of Nigeria on phone from Pretoria, South Africa, that the losses were initially put at 1.2 million Rand (N21m).

“The Nigerian Union in South Africa has completed documentation of the losses suffered by Nigerians to xenophobic attacks.

“Nigerians lost more than 4.6 million Rand or N84m during the attacks.

Senate President, David Mark visits Gen Buhari at the Defence House in Abuja.

President Elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has relocated to the Defence House in the Maitama area of Abuja metropolis where he now operates temporarily.

According to TheNation, Buhari, who returned to Abuja from Kaduna on Monday to hold talks with Ivorian President Alassane Quattara at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, has been receiving guests at the Defence House since Tuesday.

He spent the better part of Tuesday and Wednesday receiving guests at the Defence House located

These graphic images of a badly beaten transgender prisoner have sparked outrage across Brazil after it was said police officers 'pulverized' her face, forced her to strip and shaved her head.

25-year-old Veronica Bolina was arrested on Sunday (12 April) for assaulting an elderly women in her apartment building in São Paulo and put in a male prison. For reasons not yet clear, the model got into a fight with a police officer during a cell transfer and bit off half his ear.

Disturbing pictures circulating on Brazilian social media show her with cuffs on her hands and feet, head shaved, breasts exposed and face disfigured from the battering she received from several
officers. The incident has caused outrage among Brazilian LGBTI activists and supporters, who accuse the officers of transphobia.

Brazil is reportedly the most dangerous place on Earth to be transgender. Last year, 113 trans people were murdered in the country, half of all reported trans murders in the world.

The South African government has reassured Nigerians that it is doing everything possible to quell the xenophobic attacks and bring the culprits to book.

South Africa’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lulu Mnguni, gave the assurance on Friday at a press conference held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.

The briefing was jointly organised by the South African government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr Mnguni told reporters that the situation had been brought under control, with the deployment of soldiers around violence prone areas on Tuesday.

The Governor of Anambra State and the national leader of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Willie Obiano has said the state and party will give total support to the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari.

President Jonathan in closed door meeting with Buhari

President Goodluck Jonathan and the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Friday met behind closed-doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting which lasted about 30minutes started at about 3pm with the arrival of the President-elect and members of his entourage.

A few minutes before his arrival, Jonathan walked a distance of about 100 metres from his office to the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa where the meeting was held.

The House of Representatives clarified on Friday that it approved N145bn for fuel subsidy in the 2015 budget.

It said N100bn was approved for petrol subsidy while the balance of N45bn was for kerosene subsidy.

Deputy House spokesman, Mr. Victor Ogene, who made the clarification in Abuja, explained that the N145bn was embedded in the revenue framework of the N4.4tr budget the House passed on Thursday for 2015.

“When the Executive presented the 2015 budget proposals, it made provisions for N100bn for petrol , and another N45bn subsidy on kerosene.

“Both items, alongside some others, were contained in the revenue framework upon which the 2015 Appropriation Bill was predicated,” Ogene explained.

The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday reunited Miss Henrietta Otobo, a 17-year-old kidnap victim with her family, Mr and Mrs Otobo, after six months in custody of her abductors. According to NAN, the victim was reported missing on November 13, 2014.
She was declared missing after her parents who live in Delta state could not find her when they got home around 4:00 p.m. on the fateful day.

Miss Otobo, was rescued from the same nanny, Funmilayo Adeyemi, who kidnapped the Orekoya kids while using a fake name, Mary Akinloye and her husband, Kazeem Adeyemi.‎
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Kenneth Nwosu, said that it was the rescue of the Orekoya kids that led to the discovery of Miss Henrietta Otobo whom had also been kidnapped by the same nanny.
