Yobe State capital, Potiskum, was February 11, yesterday, hit by a suicide bombing.
Daily Trust reports that the assaulter ran into an uncompleted building located at the Tsohuwar Kasuwa area, and detonated an explosive device.
An eyewitness of the incident, identified as Abubakar Salisu, said that about 5:00pm the bomber alighted from a tricycle and headed to a crowd o people. However he looked suspicious and therefore was stopped by volunteer guards.
“Many people became suspicious of him as he started advancing. We shouted at him to leave the area, and he ran into an uncompleted building where the bomb exploded.”
No other life was lost in the attack.
A source from Potiskum General Hospital confirmed the information saying that the bomber’s mutilated body parts had been brought in a sack and deposited at the morgue.
Potiskum has been hit several times in the previous month.
A suicide bomber detonated an explosive at a Potiskum bus station allegedly killing 4 people and injuring scores of others.
A week before the incident, two explosions were heard at a busy mobile phone market of the city. At least 20 people were said to have been killed in the attack.
