Kanye West's dad didn't like North name

Kanye West's father thought he was joking when he named his daughter North.

The 'Bound 2' rapper stunned his dad Ray when he revealed the moniker he and wife Kim Kardashian West had chosen for their baby girl, who is now 22 months old, but his family have since grown to love her name.

Brenda Bentley, who was previously engaged to Ray and is still a close friend of his, said: ''The name North - he thought it was a joke at first. Ray likes it now, they all call her Nori.''

Peter Okoye opens up on his life, music and family

Multi-talented duo, Peter and Paul Okoye, a.k.a. P-Square, started their rise to fame over a decade ago; starting small, performing on a local scale before making it to the big league. The duo, managed by big brother Jude Okoye, introduced pop into the Nigerian music scene during an era it wasn’t a popular genre.

From street to stage, the limelight took them beyond borders, performing beside the biggest names in the music industry, locally and internationally. The second half of the duo, Peter, shares his story with Allure Vanguard. He speaks on his love for music, life and family.

You and your brother started P-Square during an era when pop culture wasn’t so popular in Nigeria. How did you pull through to create the phenomenon that you are?

For us, it was all about the love of music. Music was something we loved doing. All we wanted was not just for people to listen to P-Square, but for people to start listening to Nigerian music too. And we did this by incorporating it with what the Western world was doing.

Ondo State Deputy governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi has been impeached this morning by the members of the state House of Assembly.

The motion for his impeachment was moved by the majority leader Ifedayo Akinsoyinu from Ondo West 11 and seconded by Olatunji Dauro from Owo 11‎.

In all, 22 of the 26 members of the Assembly supported his impeachment.

The Speaker Rt Hon Jumoke Akindele ruled that all government properties in his custody were ordered to be retrieved by the Permanent Secretary of the Deputy governor’s office by all lawful means‎.

A 32-year-old North Carolina woman is dead after slamming her car head-on into a truck while posting selfies and a Facebook update about how happy she was while listening to a Pharrell song.

Courtney Sanford, of High Point, crossed the center median of a busy road Thursday morning just after making the post, hit a recycling truck and died, police said. Further inspection of her phone revealed pictures posted online only minutes earlier.

An Atlanta teenager is hospitalized with burns covering 70 per cent of his body after two other teens attacked him with a pot of boiling rice while he was sleeping.

Damon Clay, 17, is in a medically induced coma in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after Monday's attack, reports DailyMail. Officers have arrested 19-year-old Quintavious Barber and 18-year-old Malik Morton for aggravated assault and cruelty to a child, among other charges.

Relatives of the scalded victim said the two men accused him of stealing a PlayStation 3. Neighbors

Nepal Earthquake: Officials reported at least 1,500 dead and warned the toll could rise as rescue teams are still searching for survivors

A member of a youth vigilante group, Abba Modu stated that two towns in Borno, Marte and Mafa were attacked by the insurgents between Thursday and Friday.

He said over 2,000 Boko Haram members who were armed with sophisticated weapons on Thursday laid siege on Marte.

Patience Jonathan’s attitude cost us defeat — PDP chief

Bayelsa State publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Osom Makbere, has said President Goodluck Jonathan lost the March 28 presidential election due to international and domestic conspiracies.

Makbere, who is also a lawyer, stated this in an exclusive interview in Yenagoa on Friday.

According to Punch Ng, He said the divisions in the PDP fold and the overbearing attitude of the President’s wife, Dame Patience, also contributed to the president’s loss.

Giving insight on the failure of the President at the poll, Makbere said, “History has stated that no failure, defeat or loss is a product of a single factor. Jonathan’s loss could be blamed on a multiplicity of interwoven causes.
