Kanye West's father thought he was joking when he named his daughter North.
The 'Bound 2' rapper stunned his dad Ray when he revealed the moniker he and wife Kim Kardashian West had chosen for their baby girl, who is now 22 months old, but his family have since grown to love her name.
Brenda Bentley, who was previously engaged to Ray and is still a close friend of his, said: ''The name North - he thought it was a joke at first. Ray likes it now, they all call her Nori.''
The couple have made no secret of their desire to have more children, and Brenda expects Kanye will want to honor himself if he has a son.
She added: ''It will be interesting to see what they name their next child. If it's a boy, I think it will be Kanye Omari West Jr..''
Kanye and Ray - who walked out on the rapper's late mother Donda when the 'All Day' star was just three years old - have grown closer since North's birth and Ray is now a doting grandfather.
Brenda added to heat magazine: ''Ray was over there for Christmas, he dotes on North. He bought her a bicycle, but she's going to have to grow into that.''
