TY Bello, has has poured out a very emotional tribute to Oronto Douglas, the
Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Research,
Documentation and Strategy, who passed on at the early hours of today
after struggle with unknown type of cancer. The mother of two recounted her last
moment with late Douglas, his promise that he will return and the
shocking news of his death. Above is the pic she took of him while he
raced to catch a helicopter. So emotional…) Read after cut…
“ORONTO
DOUGLAS : THE LAST FLIGHT . Today I stood at the corridor in Mr Douglas
' house and watched some of his staff weep as they spoke about the
awesome privilege of working with him. They felt blessed by the chance
they had been given to say goodbye.
I
know exactly how they feel .In many ways , he was my boss too and just
the evening before ,I was graced from heaven with an opportunity to say
my farewell . No good-byes were said but a promise to come see him with
the boys ....tomorrow .
Before
dawn ,this image I made of him racing to catch a helicopter came to
mind as I prayed .In no time ,word came that he had departed.
Tomorrow
has come Mr Douglas ... And you've left so many of us counting the good
God poured out through you. I for one was blessed by a perfect stranger
not only believing in my art but always making way for me to serve ....
Wanting absolutely nothing in return but spirited and excellent work
.From you I've learnt how to carry the dream of another .. How to fan
their gift to flame.. I've learnt that that the power to encourage and
bring out the best in people is virtue worth living for... At least so
when we catch our final flight to glory .. People will speak of us with
the same fire. The images I got to make working with you truly renewed
my passion for Nigeria ... Im grateful my brother . Thank You and
goodnight... Sir”
