Irishman admits stabbing his wife 'up to 50 times' after argument

According to independent, An Irishman who was found unconscious beside the body of his wife in Switzerland has admitted to stabbing her to death.

Swiss authorities confirm that Harry Ringwood (48), originally from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, admitted to killing his wife, Galina Shevchenko (46), by stabbing her up to fifty times.
Galina Shevhcenko, originally from Kazakhstan, was discovered lifeless in the couple’s apartment in the scenic Lutry on Monday.


Mr Ringwood was discovered lying unconscious close by.
In an official statement, Swiss authorities said: “The husband of the woman found dead in her apartment in Lutry has spoken to the inspectors of the Security Police and the magistrate in charge of the investigation.
“This man has admitted killing his wife by stabbing her fifty times. He acted after a dispute with his wife.
“He then attempted to take his own life.”

A builder who had arrived at the first-floor apartment on Grand Rue 2, Lutry came across the gruesome scene when he arrived to carry out planned renovations in the property.

The police described the Ms Shevchenko’s death as “violent” in a previous statement.
Inspector Jeckelmann described what emergency services saw at the couple's home.
"It was quite a scene, the woman's body was found in a pool of blood, and there was blood all over the apartment as well... It was a very horrible death," he said.

PR executive Harry Ringwood will await his trial in prison. Under Swiss law, he will not be charged until he is brought before the court.
